Task III under the IEA SolarPACES Strategies Plan aims to enhance the technical and economic viability of the emerging technologies through theoretical analyses, simulation codes and experimental work in specialized facilities. The objectives include optimizing the design, evaluation, and use of components and subsystems for concentrating solar thermal energy, with applications in process heat and the development of improved materials. It also includes guidelines for component performance measurement, prioritization of impactful R&D activities, reliability evaluation of solar components and systems, quality assurance tools for concentrator systems, and methodologies for comparing and evaluating storage concepts.
